Tri-Vin Imports
Come in for a rare tasting of Portuguese wines from Tri-Vin, accompanied by one of their Nero d'Avola.
The wines:
Faunus Nero d'Avola
Lush and ripe bouquet full of mulberries, blackberries and spice. Harmonious and well balanced with good berry fruit in a spicy background.
Quinta Da Cortezia Touriga Nacional 2005
Very juicy and bright, with vibrant flavors of cherry, plum and dark chocolate and a typical Touriga herbal and mineral edge to this, with lots of iron.
Campolargo Entre II Santos 2006
This wine has a lively aroma of ripe fruits, with good concentration and affirmative style.
Vintage Wines
Vintage delighted us with a Croze-Hermitage, and two excellent Greek wines.

From the island of Santorini, located in Greece's Aegean Sea, grown in dry volcanic soil, the wine features minerals and citrusy characteristics.
Boutari Moschofilero 2006
Made from Moschofilero grapes grown in high elevation in the Peloponnese. This is a fresh white wine with intense floral white rose and fruity - melon and citrus trees - aromas.
Chapoultier Croze-Hermitage 2005
It is all freshness and easy enjoyment from younger vines. Aromas of red fruits, black current and raspberry; fresh and round tasting with a finish of stewed fruits.
Hpnotiq
Bottled in France, Hpnotiq is an exquisite blend of premium vodka, natural tropical fruit juices and a hint of Cognac which combine to produce its signature frosted blue color.

Michael Skurnik came in once again with a trio of wines from Australia.

Heartland Stickleback Red 2006
52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Shiraz and 15% Grenache, shows attractive, lively berry fruit flavors and a soft, supple palate. A Wine Spectator best value.
Heartland Stickleback White 2006
Chardonnay and Verdelho left on lees post fermentation to enhance palate richness, with Semillon to add vibrancy and citrus zest to the blend.

Sussex Wine Merchants
Sussex Wine Merchants will came to show off two values from California's Paso Robles area, as well as a distinctive chinon. The juxtaposition of the new world style of the Clos Juline wines and the Old World Chinon made for an interesting tasting.

100% Cabernet Franc from France's Loire Valley, this ruby red colored wine possesses a distinctive bouquet of spring flowers and red fruit.
Clos Julien Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 24% Cabernet Franc, full of ripe cassis and currant flavors, with soft tannins.
Clos Julien Chardonnay 2006
A bright, crisp Chardonnay drawn off of three excellent Central Coast vineyards.
David Bowler Wines
David Bowler specializes in hand-crafted wines. The three selections they brought in in for us were going to be great for fall, with two luscious reds and a delightful Pinot Grigio. Everyone who tasted them really enjoyed them.

Dark ruby-colored, it has an expressive nose of earth, herbs and mushroom, as well as ripe blackberries.
Castello di Porcia Pinot Grigio 2006
Pale Golden-yellow color. Fresh and fruity smell. Full-bodied and dry flavor.
Laura Hartwig Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Rich nose of red berries, cherry and blackberry, framed by vanilla and chocolate, a jam character. Rich, full-bodied.
Kendall Jackson
We ofer Jackson Estate grown wines from California's cool coastal vineyards.

To shake things up, we held the first of two tastings of cocktails from Stirrings with three Martinis - Pomegranate, Pear and Apple.

Tri-Vin imports brought in a taste of Portugal.

Fado Red 2006
A blend of Trincadeira, Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Petit Verdot. Lots of fresh cherries and reminiscent of a good Beaujolais Village with extra kick. Terrific value.
Fado White 2007
A blend of Antao Vaz (85%) and Roupeiro. Crisp and clean with nice citrus and melon on the nose. Some roundness but with great balanced acidity. Amazing value. 87 Pts - Wine Advocate
Quinta do Mondego 2005
Dao regional red blend including Touriga-National, Tinta Roriz, Jaen and Alfrocheiro. Elegant and rich full bodied red with dark berry fruits, spice and leather.
