February 4 & 3 - Bonkers for Bordeaux Tasting!
Saturday 4-7 PM, Friday 5-8 PM
French wines two weeks in a row?! I know, I know, but we brought in so many great bottles last month that there is much bounty to explore. Bordeaux can boast several great vintages in the last few years. It seems like we are always reading about the exorbitantly priced First Growth being snapped up by China, but what is more notable for us here in the US is the wave of excellent value and moderately priced Chateaux coming in. Bordeaux wine has never been better. Come into Long's this weekend and taste why!
2009 Chateau des Proms - Ch. Des Proms Graves
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon | France | Bordeaux | 750ml
This delightful red Graves greets you with dark fruit aromas mixed with light herbal and floral notes. On the palate it is light and supple, with the fruit and herbs combining with elements of roses and violets, bringing a lovely complexity. The soft texture and long fruit-filled finish makes this an all-purpose red that needs no food at all, or pair with burgers, steak, casseroles or an array of cheeses.
2009 Chateau La Croix Blanche - Chateau La Croix Blanche
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon | France | Bordeaux | 750ml
The nose is an aromatic blend of sweet cherries, plums and spice. The wine has the classic soft elegance of St. Emilion, with moderate tannins that give it an easy to enjoy texture. The finish combines the plum and light wood flavors, which will make this a winner with any full flavored meal.

January 14 & 13 - Long Island's Onabay Vineyards Tasting!
Saturday 4-7 PM, Friday 5-8 PM
ONABAY VINEYARDS is a new name on the North Fork of Long Island (2006 is their first vintage), but it has a long history. The 18 year-old vineyard is part of a larger, historic farm owned by the Anderson family. Today, the property encompasses over 180 acres of fertile fields, meadows, and forests as well as over a mile of bay and creek frontage. It is a wondrous, peaceable kingdom of great horned owls, deer, osprey, herons, and shorebirds. Striped bass, bluefish, and flounder abound in the tidal creeks and the deeper bay. The vineyards spread over 20 acres.
The North Fork's temperate climate is often compared to Bordeaux, as it has a superb microclimate for viticulture. The surrounding waters of Peconic Bay, Richmond Creek, and Long Island Sound create a long and warm growing season. The soils are deep and loamy, the perfect medium for growing.
Come into Long's and celebrate our local wines today!
